Depending on how you look at it, I’ve spent more than 20 years as an application programmer, starting with Ingres (yes, on VAX/VMS OS) and moving up through a wide variety of platforms and software.  I came in through the back door– hired as a data entry clerk, in fact — and learned in the purest way possible, by being dumped in the deep end.

Education

Formal classwork came later, through occasional classes, and then finally, some certificates of mastery, which actually did produce a boatload of knowledge about Object-Oriented Programming, the mysteries of CSS3, and the tools to go on and teach myself about JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, and other areas like WordPress and Bootstrap.
